RULES AND REGULATIONS (2013-2014)
All applications for admission are to be made in the prescribed admission form, with all details required therein duly filled in by the parents or guardians who will be responsible to the head of the school for the student’s conduct, punctuality, regular attendance and payment of fees.
AGE RULES
The age of the student will be calculated as on the 15th of April.
KG I : 3 years
KG II : 4 years
Grade I : 5 years No relaxation will be possible in the age limit.
The following documents in respect of the student should be submitted along with the application form
1. Student’s Passport with valid visa : Original and 2 photocopies
2. Birth Certificate : Original and 1 photo copy
3. School Leaving Certificate/Transfer Certificate : Original (duly attested) & 1 photocopy

4. Passport Size Photographs : 4 Nos.
5. Progress Report/Statement of Marks/ : Original and 1 photocopy
Pass Certificate (Grade IX & XI)

Attestation of Transfer Certificate
A. Certificates from India
A student who has attended any recognized school shall not be admitted without a School Leaving Certificate from the school last attended. Such certificates should be:
(a) Countersigned by the Educational Authorities in India (AEO/DEO or CBSE Regional Office)
(b) Attested by the Consulate General of India / Indian Embassy UAE and
(c) Attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, UAE.
B. Certificates from other Countries
Attestation required from Ministry of Education, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and UAE Embassy in respective countries.
C. Local Transfer (from schools in the UAE)
Certificates from schools in Sharjah Emirate : Attestation is not required
Certificates from schools in other Emirates : Attestation is required from respective
Zones of Ministry of Education.

FEE RULES
Fees should be paid on or before the 15th of every month. Holding fees in arrears will not be accepted. Names of the defaulters will be struck off the rolls at the end of the next month (with the permission of the Ministry of Education). Re-admission will be as per the school rules.
Pupils shall not be allowed to sit for the examination, unless all fees are paid up-to-date.
All cheques must be drawn in favour of “Sharjah Indian School” and crossed as “Payees Account Only”.

Computer Science is taught from Grade III.
Note: Malayalam is offered as an optional subject from Grade II to V.

SCHOLARSHIPS FOR SIS STUDENTS
Grade XII Examination
Students who score the highest marks in the CBSE Grade XII Examination from Sharjah Indian School (Science and Commerce Streams – Girls and Boys separately) are given Cash Awards by the Indian Association Sharjah.
TEXT BOOKS
Text books are provided as per the syllabus laid by NCERT/CBSE. Generally books published by the National Council of Education Research and Training (NCERT) are prescribed for the higher classes. In lower classes, books other than those published by NCERT but conforming to the CBSE syllabus are sometimes prescribed. Parents are required to buy the prescribed textbooks and necessary stationery from the school store.
ANNUAL SYLLABUS
The syllabus for the academic year is distributed to the parents at the beginning of the academic year.
CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES / HOUSES
Students participation in curricular and co-curricular activities is an integral part of education. It contributes to the total personality of the child by inculcating a sense of responsibility and discipline in him / her. With this aim in view, the school has introduced the house system and various co-curricular activities.
SCOUTS AND GUIDES (GRADE VI, VII & VIII)
The school has a well trained Scouts Group for boys and Guides group for girls. Every year, students from Grade VI will be recruited to the groups.
